![]() David R. Becker, TWSA (Transparent Watercolor Society of America), is an illustrator, fine artist artist and art instructor. He is the author of Watercolor Composition Made Easy, his first watercolor book published in 1999 by North light Books. How to Sketch with Watercolor is David's second book which was released January of 2003. Becker has had two different articles published in International Artist and one in Watercolor Magic. His paintings have also been published in several books and magazines including People in Watercolor (Rockport Publishers), How To Making a painting by Irving Shapiro (Watson & Guptill), Splash 3 (North Light) and American Artist Magazine. Becker's work has been accepted into more than two dozen shows, and he has won many prestigious awards including The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels in the Bluegrass Painting Exhibition, Bronze Medal at the Solon International de la Peinture de Sherbrooke, Canada and Purchase Awards from The Degas Pastel Society, Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society and The Montana Watercolor Society. Becker began teaching watercolor part-time while still a student at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He teaches classes at the Palette and Chisel in Chicago and has led many workshops around the country Becker was chairman of the Palette & Chisel 100th Anniversary 2nd Annual National Irving Shapiro Watercolor Competition and Academy Reunion in memory of Irving Shapiro. He studied painting with Shapiro while a student at the American Academy of Art where he graduated with a Fine Arts degree in 1983. A native of Chicago , Becker has been an illustrator at DRAFTFCB, for the past Fifteen years. Previously, he was an illustrator at J Walter Thompson. Becker has appeared on WCIU-TV in Chicago and American Art Forum with Richard Love to discuss art and painting. David has had a news segment done on him painting on the train by CLTV. He resides in the Chicago suburb of Ingleside, Illinois. |
